The 3D Printer I Will Buy

I've spent a fair amount of time looking for a 3D printer. Here's the one I will buy.

I'm no expert, but I do believe I've seen more 3D printers than many have.  You see, I seek them out at fairs and faires.  I talk to the representatives and the Makers who Make them.

You see, I want to buy a 3D printer, and I've hesitated.  Money doesn't come easily, and I want to spend it wisely.  3D printing is one of those areas where there are a lot possibilities for failure... ahem... learning.  I've got a few spaces that I've been working on making Makerspaces, and it sure would be nice to have a 3D printer.  I mean... It's instant community for a Makerspace, isn't it?  Who wouldn't go for the idea of printing out their own woggles, keychains and robot parts?

So, I think my opinion is worth at least 3 cents.

And I'm backing a Kickstarter project.  But, you see, I know the folks who are presenting the project and they've done a very successful one in the past.

DeezMaker is a 3D Print Shop and Hackerspace near Pasadena City College in Pasadena, CA.  Diego, who designs the printers with an eye to reliability and quality, is there most days.  It's a family run business, and you may find Mom or Pop there some days.

And he's designed a low-entry-point 3D printer that... get this... will continue printing even if you turn it upside down... (for a time, anyway).  It's got a little handle that will help you to turn it upside down, too!

Here's the Kickstarter link: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/deezmaker/bukito-portable-3d-printer-take-it-everywhere?ref=live

Here's an experience with the Bukito at the Bay Area Maker Faire this year.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cESwLgMYXDI

So... I don't know if you'll agree... that my opinion is worth 3 cents.  Whatever you think, it's my opinion.

Even when I get it I know from talking to folks that there will be lots of learning.  To design, to learn how to handle the materials, to learn the various types of materials.  So much to learn.

So... as soon as I get it... or perhaps even now... 3D Print Club, anyone?  If you want this, let me know in the comments.
