Bear Spotted near Eaton Canyon Park Golf Course

Animal control officers are responding.

By City News Service

A juvenile bear made its way through a Pasadena neighborhood Thursday, setting residents on edge.

The animal was spotted around 4 p.m. wandering around residential yards on Old House Road near Sierra Madre Villa Avenue, according to broadcast reports.

Animal control officers and game wardens from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife were summoned to the scene, but it was unclear where the bear was tonight.

The bear was seen rummaging through trash cans and lounging in a backyard as news helicopters hovered overhead and at one point sniffed at the window of a news van as a crew locked itself inside.

A game warden told reporters the bear was probably a yearling trying to make its own way after separating from its mother.
