Members of the Pasadena dance community make their mark at the Relay for Life Zumbathon.
On Saturday June 15, 2013 several members of the Pasadena dance community participated in the Relay for Life Zumbathon at Santa Anita Racetrack. Team Hiplash's captain, Kristen Cunningham, who teaches Zumba at the Pasadena Dance Theater recruited many of her students to dance and help raise money for the American Cancer Society.
The Relay for Life is an annual fund raising event put on by the American Cancer Society . This year, James Komen, a local Zumba® instructor, approached the Zumba® organization to have them participate in the Relay for Life event. Many local Zumba® instructors, including Kristen Cunningham, Thea Komen and Priscilla Hofer gave their time and helped make the event a smashing success! There were many dancers and 8 hours of Zumba® on the infield. Team Hiplash's 28 team members included Maria Alvarado, Maria Archuleta, Janet Bayus, Tanya Benzinger, Tammy Blass, Cinny Considine, Janice Dangerfield, Breanna Gould, Cheryl Groves, Brittney Harrill, Minako Isokane, Candace Kromer, Jahnna Murachanian, Ani Muradyan, Crystal Murphy, Julie Obando, Eugenia Oeser, Kathleen O'Kane, Sharmayne Padilla, Irene Phillips, Phyllia Rapier,Tracy Reed, Lisa Reed, Lisa Thomas, Linda Schroeder, Cherryl West & Nancy Yamauchi from Kristen's Zumba & Zumba Gold® classes as well as her Bellydance classes. They helped to raise over $5,000 for the American Cancer Society and had a fantastic time at the event.
