Caltech to Host Children’s Science Event Featuring Dr. Drew

"Feed the Brain" is an interactive and upbeat exploration into the human brain.

This Saturday on the Caltech campus, children ages 6 to 12 can join Dr. Drew Pinksy and other notable speakers in an interactive exploration into the body’s most complex, but intriguing organ – the brain

“Feed Your Brain,” will take place on the Caltech campus on Saturday, Jan. 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature 15 speakers, including Dr. Drew Pinksy of “Celebrity Rehab” fame, who will give short, but personal talks relating to the brain. The event will also include live music, a dance troupe and a poetry slam.

Audience members will have the opportunity to take part in the presentation, both onstage and off.

There will be a free lunch and an opportunity to meet and mingle with the speakers, performers and Caltech faculty.

The event is hosted by the nonprofit organization TED, which organizes conferences on a variety of topics using a format where speakers give short, but dynamic talks.

Saturday’s event is conceived and planned by area youth from 14 local elementary and high schools.

“The talks are very personal stories and reflections,” said Brian Bell of Caltech Media Relations. “They’re short, not long, boring research talks you’d see at a lot of science conferences.”

Tickets are $5 for children and $25 for adults. Tickets can be purchased at www.tedxyouthcaltech.com/.
