Democratic incumbent Congressman Adam Schiff faces off against Republican hopeful Phil Jennerjahn on Tuesday. 

Schiff has served in Congress since 2001 and sits on the House Appropriations Committee, which sets all federal government funding priorities.  

Jennerjahn, a political consultant, ran for California's 33rd Congressional District in 2010 and mayor of Los Angeles in 2009.

The newly redrawn 28th Congressional District encompasses Montrose, La Crescenta, Glendale, Sunland, Tujunga, parts of Pasadena, Burbank, Silver Lake, Hollywood and West Hollywood.
