Prosecutors Could Seek Death Penalty in Pasadena Christmas Homicide
The alleged gang member accused of shooting an innocent bystander to death on Christmas is facing a capital murder charge and prosecutors will decide later whether to pursue the death penalty.
Prosecutors could seek the death penalty in the murder trial of an alleged Pasadena gang member accused of fatally shooting an innocent bystander and wounding another man in a shooting on Christmas Day.
Larry Darnell Bishop Jr., 20, was charged Wednesday with one count of murder with the special circumstances of discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle and murder to further a criminal street gang, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. He also faces one count of attempted murder, two counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling, and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.
Prosecutors "will decide later" whether to seek the death penalty against Bishop, the release states.

Another 20-year-old man, Gary Aurthur, is also charged as an accessory to the crime, according to prosecutors.
A funeral will be held Saturday for Victor McClinton, the 49-year-old man Bishop allegedly gunned down near Newport Avenue and Wyoming Street in Pasadena on Christmas Day.
