Man Accused of Drugging, Raping Woman in Pasadena Home

A 39-year-old man faces felony charges in connection to the Sunday incident.

A 39-year-old man accused of torturing, drugging and raping an unconscious woman in his Pasadena home is being held on $1.4 million bail, facing a host of felony charges, while the victim remained hospitalized with serious burns, police reported today.

The case dates to Sunday about 9 a.m., when Pasadena police dispatchers got a 911 call transfer from the California Highway Patrol. The woman on the phone sounded distraught and said she was in a home in Pasadena and had been burned and tied up by a man. The line then went dead.

Police traced the call to a residence in the 700 block of North Pasadena Avenue, where they found a damaged door with a small amount of a substance resembling blood, according to Lt. Tracey J. Ibarra.

No one was at the residence, but police learned the name of the possible occupant. Later that same day, the Los Angeles Police Department notified Pasadena police that a 21-year-old woman suffering from severe chemical burns had turned up at a Los Angeles area hospital, according to Ibarra.

Pasadena police subsequently determined that she was the woman who had called authorities on Sunday.

The woman told investigators that she had been intentionally burned by a man she met in Los Angeles, and agreed to follow to his Pasadena home. Once there, she said, he convinced her to pose for a photo wearing a motorcycle helmet.

She said that when he put the helmet on her head, she immediately felt a burning sensation on her skin and when she tried to remove it, he held the headgear in place until she lost consciousness. She said that when she awoke, she found the man assaulting her.

Investigators later identified the suspect as Piotr Igor Dudkiewicz, who was arrested on Monday morning in La Verne, according to Pasadena police.

On Tuesday, according to Pasadena police, the District's Attorney Office filed the following charges against the suspect:
   -- torture;
   -- aggravated mayhem;
   -- false imprisonment;
   -- oral copulation of an unconscious person;
   -- oral copulation by anesthesia or controlled substance;
   -- sodomy of an unconscious victim;
   -- sodomy by anesthesia or controlled substance;
   -- two counts of sexual penetration with a foreign object;
   -- rape of unconscious person; and
   -- rape by use of drugs.

The woman, whose name was withheld, is still hospitalized in serious but stable condition with second- and third-degree burns, according to Pasadena
police.

Anyone who may have had contact with Dudkiewicz was asked to call Pasadena police Detective Carolyn Gordon at (626) 744-7113, or Pasadena police at (626) 744-4241.
