Human Skull, Bones Found at Makeshift Altar

Pasadena Police said they found burnt artifacts and bones after responding to a report of a possible trespasser.

Police found an apparent makeshift backyard altar today with burnt artifacts, a skull and other human bones in Pasadena, and the discovery was investigated as "suspicious circumstances."

The discovery was made around 12:50 p.m. as police responded to reports of a possible trespasser in the 800 block of North Oakland Avenue, according to the Pasadena Police Department.

Officers arriving on the scene found what looked like a makeshift altar adorned with burned artifacts, animal bones, incense and candles, police said. Human bones and a human skull were also found among the remnants.

Investigators and the personnel from the coroner's office responded to the home to collect the items for further analysis, police said. 

An investigation is ongoing into the suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident, police said.
