3 Arrested in Deputy-Involved Shooting

Marquis Garret, Paul Scott and Eddie McFadden are accused of kidnapping for financial gain.

Three men were behind bars Saturday, suspected of kidnapping a woman in Pasadena who was forced to go to a bank to withdraw money, and one was also being investigated for allegedly exchanging gunfire with at least one plainclothes deputy, authorities said.

The kidnapping occurred around 11 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the 1900 block of North Arroyo Boulevard, according to Pasadena police.

Three masked men entered the residence and held two women captive, but police didn't become aware of the kidnapping until the following morning when bank personnel called authorities to report a female was withdrawing money under duress, police said.

They were arrested by Pasadena detectives later in the night. Two were taken into custody in Pasadena and one in Arcadia, said Pasadena police Lt. Jason Clawson.

The suspects, all of whom were booked on suspicion of kidnapping for financial gain, were identified as Marquis Garrett, 20, and Paul Scott, 31, both of Pasadena, and , police said. They were being held in lieu of $1 million bail, according to police.

None of the arrested suspects was wounded in the deputy-involved shooting, Clawson said.
