Rich Block, Poor Block: How Does Your Neighborhood Compare?

Do you think different parts of Pasadena have different income levels? How do Pasadena's neighbors compare? Read on to find out how to get the answer.

Like any town in the U.S., you'll always notice that some parts of a city appear better off than others. It's no different in Pasadena, which has a wide range of incomes.

But if you've ever wanted to put a number to those ranges, the website Rich Blocks, Poor Blocks could provide the answer. The site uses data from the 2006-2010 American Community Survey to display median household income by census tract.

A quick look at the site shows that the median household income in Pasadena ranges from $30,352 to $133,750. The census tract near Old Town that's bordered by N. Los Robles, W. Colorado Boulevard and the nexus of the 210 and 134 Freeways had a median household income of $30,352, while the tract south of Colorado, bordered by Fair Oaks, California and the area near Arroyo Boulevard registered a median household income of $133,750.

Above the 210, the median household incomes for the census tracts up to Washington Avenue and bordered by Lake Avenue and the part of the 210 West that actually stretches north toward La Cañada Flintridge ranges from $33,413 to $41,447. The figures rise heading into the neighboring communities of Altadena, South Pasadena and San Marino.
