Capistrano Connections Academy Students Visit NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory on Field Trip

On Thursday, Feb. 13, students from Capistrano Connections Academy, a K-12 tuition-free virtual public school, gathered at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena for a field trip to learn about the laboratory and its connection to NASA. The field trip was attended by Connections Academy students and their families, and gave students an opportunity to socialize while learning about the Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s work—everything from NASA’s robotic space missions and probes to the Mars Curiosity Rover.

Students also saw models of space craft and the assembly plant for the space equipment at JPL and learned about the solar system through an interactive museum display. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory field trip is one of many events organized by the school that provide opportunities for students to socialize with one another, while also supplementing the school’s innovative curriculum with first-hand experiences.

Capistrano Connections Academy is a tuition-free, high-quality, highly accountable virtual public school serving students in grades K-12 in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego counties. The school provides students the flexibility to learn from anywhere, with an innovative curriculum that meets rigorous state education standards.
